ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION TO STUDENTS
You will create a professional website/blog via Blogger. We are using a blog format because it is free; however, we will create it to look like a website. Your website must have at least four pages (home page does NOT count as one page) but you can decide the content. You must include at least one picture of yourself on the website. You will be graded on your content, style, and overall professionalism.
1) Create a Google Account
2) Login to Google Account at www.blogger.com
3) Create a Blog Title and Blog Name (preferably a version of your name)
4) Choose a Template (you can change this later)
5) Now “Customize your blog”
DESIGNING YOUR BLOG
1) While logged-in to your Gmail at www.blogger.com/home, you will see the blog you just created (and any others you create in the future). Click the name of your blog.
2) You are now at the Dashboard, the page we will use to edit the settings and transform the blog to a website. In “Settings,” go to “Posts and Comments” and hide the “Comment Location.”
3) Click “Layout” and remove the side gadgets. You can’t remove the “Navbar” but you can turn it off.
4) While still in “Layout,” click on the edit tab
in the “Blog Posts” box. Uncheck all the boxes.
5) Click “Pages.” Change the view to “Show pages as Top Tabs.” Add pages to your website. You can always edit pages or use drag and drop to rearrange the order.
6) Click
“New Post.” Create the opening message for this static page of your website.
